In 1969, legendary luthier James "Jimmy" D'Aquisto began a collaboration with Hagstrom that would last almost ten years. The Hagstrom series of hollow-body, arch-top jazz guitars is the fruit of this collaboration, and the master's know-how is undeniably evident in these magnificent instruments.

In fact, the asymmetrical headstock used on these guitars, and which now equips most current Hagstrom models, is a Jimmy creation.

The HJ500 excels in reproducing impeccably pure and rich jazz sounds, whether it's single-note patterns or harmonic accompaniment on "walking bass" lines. However, it is also perfectly capable of venturing into more rock-oriented sounds when needed.
