In 1969, legendary luthier James "Jimmy" D'Aquisto began a collaboration with Hagstrom that would last nearly ten years. The Hagstrom series of hollow-body, arch-top jazz guitars is the result, and the master's craftsmanship is undeniably evident in these magnificent instruments.

In fact, the asymmetrical headstock used on these guitars, and which now equips most current Hagstrom models, is a creation of Jimmy.

The HJ500 excels at reproducing jazz sounds of impeccable purity and richness, whether for single-note patterns or harmonic accompaniment on walking bass lines. However, it is also perfectly capable of venturing into more rock-oriented sounds when needed.
