Designed in 2009 at James Hetfield’s request, EMG offers the HET JH Set, consisting of the JH-N (neck) and JH-B (bridge) pickups, respectively inspired by the EMG 60 and 81, which were used by the Metallica guitarist for more than 30 years.
Featuring individual ceramic magnets and wider coils than the EMG 60, the JH-N delivers a sharper attack, higher output, and richer bass. The EMG JH-B, meanwhile, uses steel magnets rather than the EMG 81’s bar magnets, resulting in a more precise attack and tighter bass.
